Flower wall rental: a practical guide to sizes, styles and placement

A flower wall is the hardest-working rental at a wedding or event. It’s the ceremony backdrop, the sweetheart-table frame and the photo spot every guest posts. Here’s how to choose the right one.

Flower wall styles

  • Ivory and white rose walls — the classic, works with any palette.
  • Blush and mixed pink — romantic, soft, and very photogenic.
  • Greenery and boxwood — modern and neutral; perfect behind neon signage.
  • Sequin and shimmer walls — not floral at all, but a glam alternative for evening events.
  • Fresh-flower walls — real blooms, stunning, and priced accordingly; best for short events in cool rooms.

Most rental walls are high-quality silk florals on panels, which means they look identical in July heat and in a February ballroom.

What size do you need?

Common builds are around eight feet wide by eight feet tall. That comfortably frames a sweetheart table or a couple standing for photos. For a ceremony backdrop in a large ballroom, consider a wider wall, or pair a wall with flanking floral stands for extra width. Measure ceiling height and the door you’ll be carrying panels through.

Placement tips

  • Put it where the light is good — or bring up-lighting. A flower wall in a dark corner disappears in photos.
  • Avoid placing it directly in front of windows during the day; backlight makes faces dark.
  • Leave a clear six to eight feet in front for photos.
  • If it serves double duty (ceremony then reception), plan who moves it and when.

Questions to ask a flower wall rental company

  1. Is delivery, assembly and pick-up included in the price?
  2. How much floor space and ceiling height does it need?
  3. Is the stand freestanding, or does it need to be secured?
  4. Can you add signage, a neon sign or lighting?
  5. What happens if it’s damaged?
  6. Can I see a photo of the actual wall, not a stock image?
